It’s time to heal from all you’ve been through

Don’t show up because you need it, show up because you deserve it.

The you before that thing that happened, and the you after everything changed.

There is usually a before and after.

This could be anything from losing someone, a car accident, losing a job you loved, abuse, a messy divorce, or a complicated family.

It doesn’t really matter what happened. It only matters how it changed you.

But I can help.

My job is to use my skills to help you overcome all that you’ve been through.

I believe we all have the keys for healing inside of us. Our work will help you unlock what you’ve been missing.

What is EMDR and how does it help?

Eye Movement Reprocessing & Desensitization (EMDR) is therapist talk for a technique I use that uses the natural way we process our emotions to improve the way trauma affects our life.

Because trauma changes the way we think and the way we see the world, EMDR takes your body’s natural healing processes (eye movements and tapping) and helps remove the sting from the things that control your life.

I already know what you’re thinking

  • Most people I work with have that same experience. EMDR works with the patterns our brain uses to survive. If you’ve lived at all, you’ve been through some suff. The purpose of this tool is to free you from any part of life that holds you back.

  • No, EMDR is not hypnosis at all. It is a technique that works on many issues including trauma. It uses your natural strengths, on purpose, to help heal what you’ve gone through. You will be conscious and fully in control.

  • EMDR goes well with kids because it doesn’t require lots of words or even the need to understand exactly what is happening in their mind. Kids tend to have an easier time with EMDR because they naturally are more connected to their bodies. It can also be used with play therapy and sandtray.

  • Talk therapy is great but sometimes it doesn’t go deep enough. The great thing about EMDR is that you don’t have to talk at all. I don’t need to know the details of what happened to help you feel better and be happier.

  • It is not much different than doing it in person. We can use a secure online platform for eye movements, headphones for audio sounds, or your hands or walking for tapping. Clients tend to like EMDR online because they can be in their own space, have their comfort items (like their pets, blankets, and tea) and not have to worry about encountering other people.

  • No you don’t. EMDR takes your core memories that impact your behavior and reduces the negative feelings thoughts surrounding it. If that involves childhood experiences, it could come up. It doesn’t, it won’t be the focus of our work.

  • CBT and TFCBT can be useful like any other tool! Those tools use strategies to help you change the way you think about things that happened to you. I believe trauma lives in our bodies in ways that sometimes don’t have words or even thoughts that make sense. EMDR uses the body to address deeper issues.
